Only a Florida man would violate his probation and then call the police to come to pick him up. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), this past Sunday, July 21, around 1:00 a.m. in Winter Haven, Florida, a 39-year-old man called 911 to request that an officer come pick him up because he was drunk, his fiancé had left him “in the middle of nowhere”, and he did not have anywhere to go. The PCSO says that, while on the phone with 911, he told the operator he was on Altamonte Road. However, there is not an Altamonte Road in Polk County, Florida. Dispatchers eventually located him at the intersection of “Alturas Babson Park Cutoff Road and Crews Road near Lake Wales”. The responding deputies report that the man was not difficult to find, as he was apparently the only shirtless man around at 1:00 a.m. When deputies arrived, the man was able to identify himself and proceeded to inform the officers that he had drank several beers and began arguing with his fiancé, resulting in his predicament. Although this normally would not be a crime, this man in particular was on probation for Driving Under the Influence Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. As such, one of the conditions of his probation is that he is prohibited from consuming alcohol. Due to this, deputies did not take the man home. Instead, they brought him to the Polk County Jail on the charge of probation violation. Article by Ema Tibbetts
