12/12/2024 0 Comments Florida Among 24 States Impacted by Popular Retailer Meal-Kit Recall Related to Salmonella PoisoningConsumers who shop at Sprouts stores across the U.S. may want to check their fridge — as Gyro Family Kits were recalled from the popular retailer on December 6, 2024, after the supplier, Reser's Fine Foods Inc., was alerted of the potential Salmonella contamination of cucumbers used to craft its signature tzatziki sauce, an announcement from the company released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states. The effects of Salmonella poisoning can be quite dire. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in children, frail or elderly people, and other people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness is urged to contact a healthcare provider. The affected lots of the Gyro Family Kit products are listed below:
According to Reser's Fine Foods Inc., their product was distributed to Sprouts stores across the U.S., with 24 different state's locations affected, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. Customers who purchased these items are urged not to consume them and dispose of them or return them to their local store for a full refund. The FDA recommends extra vigilance in cleaning and sanitizing any surfaces and containers that may have come in contact with these products to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. As of publication, no illnesses related to the product's recall have been reported. The recall alert follows the Salmonella investigation announcement affecting cucumbers from the FDA as of November 2024. Customers with questions regarding the recall are encouraged to contact Sprouts Customer Relations at sprouts.com/contact. Article by Rachael Volpe
