Florida Among States Hit by Beef Jerky Recall

Eufaula, Ala.-based Hickory Hollow Jerky has issued a recall of approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products, including beef and bacon jerky, due to their production without the benefit of federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and via online sales.

The jerky products in question were produced between Jan. 19, 2024, and Aug. 21, 2024, under two separate ownerships. After a change in ownership on June 11, 2024, the company continued producing and labeling jerky with the USDA mark of inspection despite having requested to voluntarily cease FSIS-inspection activities.
The recall was prompted by routine FSIS surveillance, which discovered the issue. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or adverse reactions from consuming the affected products. However, consumers are advised to discard the jerky or return it to the place of purchase.
