12/14/2024 0 Comments Former Florida Republican Party Treasurer Arrested for Funneling Party Funds into Own AccountDeputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) have officially arrested the former Hillsborough County Republican Party Treasurer for the illegal transfer of funds and writing himself personal checks from the organization's business accounts, a press release from HCSO states. On December 12, 2024, HCSO's Economic Crimes Section arrested Patrick Bailey, 50, in the 300 block of Lake Drive in Brandon. Through investigative means, detectives determined Bailey had written himself checks from the Hillsborough County Republican Party business account and electronically transferred funds to his personal bank account — totaling $14,400.00 from the business account. "When someone exploits their position to take what doesn't belong to them, it hurts the organization and the people who trusted them," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives worked diligently to uncover the truth and hold this individual accountable. We hope this serves as a reminder that trust and integrity are the foundations of our community, and we are here to protect them." Bailey was taken into custody without incident and now faces the following charges:
