On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department’s (CAHSD) Office of Housing Advocacy will present a Fall Housing and Eviction Clinic. In collaboration with The Caribbean Bar Association and Miami-Dade Bar Association, this forum will address the critical housing shortage in Miami-Dade County. The event will take place at the Model City Branch Library, located at 2211 NW 54th St., Miami, FL, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can expect a panel discussion covering the eviction process, tenant rights, and assistance options. The discussion will be led by Miami-Dade judges, attorneys, and housing advocates. Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive free legal consultations on eviction and tenant rights. “As we continue to face a critical housing shortage in Miami-Dade County, events like the Fall Housing and Eviction Clinic are essential in ensuring our residents are informed, protected, and supported,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Through our Office of Housing Advocacy, we are committed to providing families with the resources they need to navigate the eviction process and uphold their rights. Every resident deserves safe, stable housing, and we will keep working to make that a reality for all.” “We have made it our mission to help county residents tackle arbitrary evictions,” stated Delores Holley, Director of the Office of Housing Advocacy. “We are doing so by equipping residents with educational knowledge of tenant rights and protections, while also connecting them with the necessary resources.” CAHSD’s Office of Housing Advocacy, along with its partners, The Caribbean Bar Association and Miami-Dade Bar Association, encourages community members to attend this Fall Housing and Eviction Clinic. Engage in informative discussions and receive supportive counsel to help mitigate today’s housing crisis. The Office of Housing Advocacy (OHA) is a recent addition to CAHSD. OHA acts as a clearinghouse and coordinator to address issues of affordable housing and landlord/tenant rights, focusing on assisting families and individuals in obtaining housing-related resources.
