Monkeys may be smart and adorable, but in Florida, they are kind of a big problem. While it is hardly a secret that small populations of "wild" monkeys exist in parts of the state, the Orange City Police Department has just issued an advisory in response to an unusual surge of monkey sightings within the city. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and promptly report any sightings to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). "The Orange City Police Department has received multiple reports of monkey sightings within the city. If you encounter a monkey, please contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for assistance," the department wrote on their official Facebook page. Officials emphasized the importance of avoiding interaction with the animals. Residents are advised not to feed or approach the monkeys under any circumstances, as this could lead to unsafe encounters or interfere with efforts to manage the situation.
