Neighborly Dispute Turns Deadly: Murder-Suicide Under Investigation in New Tampa

Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) are actively investigating a murder-suicide that has occurred in New Tampa, a press release states.

According to the release, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 6:31 pm, HCSO's Dispatch Center received a call to their 911 line regarding a shooting that had occurred in the 18000 Block of Royal Forest Drive in the city of New Tampa.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found 67-year-old Steven Glantz inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he later declared deceased from his injuries.

Surveillance video obtained from homes in the area captured a subject walking up to the victim's residence. Shortly there-after, gunshots were heard, and the same subject was seen leaving Glantz's home on foot.

With the assistance of HCSO's K-9 Section, deputies searched the area, where they discovered Timothy Lobianco, 66, nearby with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have been able to determine that Glantz and Lobianco were neighbors, but what possible dispute that could have led up to the deadly shooting still remains under investigation.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on our community. HCSO is committed to supporting the grieving families as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.”

As of publication, the investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time. Additional updates will be released from the Public Affairs Office.
