Popular Florida Beach to Do Away with Free Parking

Starting July 29, visitors to Sunset Beach in Treasure Island will no longer enjoy free parking along the side streets. The city has implemented a new policy requiring the use of the ParkMobile app to pay for parking, with a rate of $5 per hour.

Key Highlights of the Change:

• No new parking spaces have been created; parking remains in the same areas but will now incur a cost.
• The $5 hourly rate applies 24/7 on the side streets.
• Visitors must heed signage carefully, as some streets allow parking on both sides seven days a week, while others restrict parking to one side only on weekends and holidays.
• Residents can purchase up to two city parking passes for $45 per year and can add their visitors' license plates online to avoid the ParkMobile rate for residential guests.
• City parking lots offer a more economical option at $3.75 per hour.
• Special parking considerations will be given to construction, pool, and lawn maintenance vehicles.
• Parking enforcement officers will use License Plate Reader Technology to monitor compliance, with fines of $60 per violation for infractions.
