A multi-state Salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico, has prompted a widespread recall. Among the impacted states, residents are encouraged to discard or avoid consuming potentially contaminated cucumbers, which have been distributed widely across grocery stores and foodservice locations. SunFed Produce, LLC has voluntarily recalled all sizes of fresh American/slicer cucumbers sold between October 12, 2024, and November 26, 2024. The recalled cucumbers were packaged in bulk containers labeled with the SunFed brand or stickers indicating "Agrotato, S.A. de C.V." The FDA is working with other importers who may have received cucumbers from the same grower. Salmonella infection can develop 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. Symptoms include:
The cucumbers were distributed across several states, including Florida, with confirmed sales in: AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, FL, ID, IL, IN, KS, MD, MA, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OK, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. However, the distribution could extend beyond these states. Consumers should take the following actions:
Retailers are also advised to stop selling the product, thoroughly clean bins and displays, and notify customers of the recall.
