Serious Health Hazard: Popular Snack Recall Hits Florida, US, Canadian & International Markets

​An Illinois-based company has voluntarily issued a recall of certain batches of its popular health snack options due to the potential presence of metals in its products, which, if consumed, may result in a safety hazard, says an announcement from the company released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 10, 2024.

Specific Riverside Natural Foods Inc. products impacted by this recall include the following of their MadeGood Granola Bar products:

• Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
• Mixed Berry Granola Bars
• Strawberry Granola Bars
• Cookies & Crème Granola Bars
• Chocolate Banana Granola Bars
• Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars
• Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars
• Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars

The recalled products were produced by Riverside Natural Foods Inc. of Chicago between January and November 2024, and were distributed throughout the United States, Canada, and other international markets. As of publication, the recall is being taken as a precautionary measure, and no injuries have been reported.

Riverside Natural Foods Inc. affirm that consumer health and safety is their top priority and urge customers who have purchased these products to check them against the list and can then return the recalled product to the store where they bought it for a full refund.

The company reports that they have conducted an extensive investigation where the recalled products were manufactured and has identified the source of the issue in their manufacturing process. Riverside say they have remediated the issue and have tested new processes to ensure that any future risk is fully mitigated.

The company further iterates that the voluntary recall is being conducted with the knowledge of regulatory authorities and they are working closely with retailers for the quick removal of recalled products from store shelves.
