Are you looking for a unique spot to take your family glamping this summer? How about just somewhere quiet to get away and get in touch with nature? Wonderfield Farm and Retreat offers this tranquility and more on its 66 acre property made up of citrus groves, cypress swamp, and grassy pastures. Overnight glampers can stay in one of four luxury tents or one of four cabins on-site. The canvas tents come fully furnished, have custom-built decks, are solar powered, and can fit between two to four people each depending on the tent. The cabins have indoor plumbing, kitchens, and can accommodate four to five people each depending on the cabin. All glampers also have access to the outdoor bathrooms and showers, fire pits, waterfront trails, and other amenities. The entire glamping grounds is located on the water, specifically a spring-fed canal that abuts Wonderfield. In addition, neighboring Wonderfield, Flying Eagle Preserve is a 10,950 acre park that is open to the general public for activities like birding, hiking, bicycling, fishing, and more. In fact, it has around 22 miles of multipurpose trails and a bird watching site. Like Flying Eagle Preserve, part of Wonderfield’s mission is to conserve “Old Florida”. This farm prides itself on being a self-sufficient, sustainable, and organic agritourism destination. Check out Wonderfield’s permaculture plan and progress here. At this time, the owners of Wonderfield are focused on raising livestock such as cattle and chickens and rehabilitating the overgrown orange orchard it inherited from Banes Grove. Despite the fact that the citrus trees were abandoned for more than a decade before Wonderfield stepped in, it reports that the oranges are still delicious. As such, visitors are invited to go citrus picking to try the oranges for themselves. Other activities taking place throughout each month include yoga on the farm, farm days, and potluck events. In addition, Wonderfield is available to host events like retreats and weddings. Between the eight glamping accommodations and a 1,000-square-foot barn that can fit up to 200 people and comes equipped with a stage and sound system, Wonderfield is prepared. Wonderfield also offers volunteer opportunities for those who wish to experience this farm and retreat from a different perspective. Applying to volunteer starts with submitting your name and email address here.
