Calling all Florida photographers! The 22nd Annual Smithsonian Photo Contest is open for submissions, offering a $2,500 Grand Prize for the best photograph. The contest runs from September 18th to December 2nd, 2024, and is open to photographers aged 18 and older. With Florida’s rich biodiversity and breathtaking landscapes, the "Natural World" category — which focuses on animals, plants, and scenic landscapes — is an ideal fit for those looking to showcase the state’s natural beauty. The contest features six categories: Natural World, Travel, People, The American Experience, Artistic Images, and Drone/Aerial. Each category winner receives $500, and there's a Readers' Choice Award worth an additional $500. Participants may submit up to 15 photos per category for a total of 90 entries. Florida's stunning wildlife, such as its iconic alligators, manatees, or sea turtles, or its picturesque beaches and wetlands, could be your ticket to winning big. The Smithsonian is looking for creativity, originality, and a strong visual impact, making this the perfect opportunity to share your unique perspective. Winners will be announced in Spring 2025, and finalists will have their work displayed in an online gallery for the public to vote on. So, grab your camera, capture the beauty of Florida’s nature, and you could walk away with cash and recognition! To enter and read more about the contest, click here.
