At 8:20 pm on September 28, 2023, the Communications Center received a call indicating that shots had been fired on the 6000 block of N. 48th Street. Now, an arrest has been made by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), taking into custody a 23-year-old Florida Man, a press release states. According to the release, when deputies arrived on the scene on September 28, they found a black male in his 20s with upper body trauma due to multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. On October 2, 2023, HCSO arrested Mar'Quel Anetus in connection with the homicide; Anetus faces charges for the following:
"Our detectives worked diligently to identify and hold accountable the individual responsible for this senseless and heinous crime," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office stands against any violence within our community. Our deputies are determined to uphold their mission to serve and protect, and they will not hesitate to ensure that anyone who believes they can bring this behavior within our community is swiftly brought to justice." As of publication, this investigation remains ongoing, as detectives believe others may be involved in this crime.
