Looking for something to do without spending a ton of money? We've got you covered. From discovering new beaches to adventure ideas that you haven't thought of yet, here are 5 free things to do around Tampa that are actually fun.
5. Spend a day exploring the new St. Pete Pier
Okay, I know I have raved about this place many times before, but seriously if you need to get out of your house and still want to be around all the modern amenities that the city has to offer, this pier should be first on your list. You can go from the pier's beach (pictured in my cover photo), the (many) restaurants, the shopping centers, and so much more in just this small strip of land. Think of it like an outdoor mall, but on the beach with amazing views --so it's way better.
4. Have an impromptu photoshoot around town
Between the dozens of beautifully curated mural walls and the picture-perfect scenery found throughout the city, you and a friend --or your tripod and self timer-- can have an amazing time taking photos in these spots for the total cost of zero dollars and zero cents, all you need is a smart phone. Your Instafeed will #thankyou.
3. Get lost under the lights of the Tampa Riverwalk
Most people go to the Riverwalk during the day and completely miss the stunning views that dusk brings. You can walk for miles along this enchanting pathway, enjoying the temperate evening air and shining lights --completely free.
2. Hang a hammock at the Dunedin Causeway
Need some time to relax at the beach without paying for parking or an entrance fee? The Dunedin Causeway is only a short drive from the Tampa City limits, and it has everything you could possibly want for a day at the beach without the price tag. Be sure to bring a hammock; there are tons of trees planted closely together specifically for this in mind!
1. Go ghost hunting around Ybor City
Notably one of the state's most haunted towns, Ybor is riddled with ghostly tales and spooky legends. If you think you're brave enough, you can try your own hand at being a ghostbuster in one of Tampa's scariest neighborhoods. At very least, it will give you something to do when you're bored and broke!
