70ft Whale Beached Off Venice Coastline Right Now

According to a post made just moments ago on Facebook by the Venice Police Department, Venice Police and Sarasota County Sheriff's units are assisting Mote Marine Laboratory staff at this time with a beached whale off the coast of Venice.

According to information on the post, the whale is located on a sandbar about 50 yards out from Service Club Park.

Although the type of whale has not been determined at this time, it is estimated to be about 70 feet long.

It is asked that the public continue to avoid the area to allow Mote staff to conduct their assessments.
