*Uncovering Florida is in no way affiliated with Cindy’s Pets Strawberry Festival and receives no revenue from visitor purchases.* Do you like dogs, strawberries, or festivals? If so, you might just be interested in attending this year’s seventh annual Cindy’s Pets Strawberry Festival, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on March 3 in Sims Park, New Port Richey, Florida. This year’s primary attractions will include all things strawberry, fair food, a dog show, and vendors. The dog show starts at 12:30 p.m. and is free to enter. Registration is still open online here or by mail-in form here if you and your pup want to strut your stuff. Show classes include categories like Best Tail Wagging, Most Adorable, and Best Strawberry Theme. Vendors will also be offering crafted pieces, pet products, and more. Dog treats will be sold by vendors like 8 Paws Approved, Eddie’s Barkery, and Pup Popz; people treats and goods will be sold by vendors like The Honey Couple, and a variety of other items, activities and educational experiences will be offered by vendors like Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Tailwagger Pet Doors, and The Brazen Boxer. Cindy’s Pets is a volunteer-only 501(c)(3) founded in honor of Cindy Allgood in 2010 with the goal of helping seniors and their pets. This organization works alongside Pasco County’s Meals on Wheels Program by delivering pet food to participating senior citizens who would typically have to feed their pets a portion of their own meals for financial reasons. Cindy’s Pets finds that senior citizen’s pets are often their only companions and believes that neither should go hungry. Volunteers at Cindy’s Pets currently deliver about 2,000 pounds of pet food to over 400 pets per month directly to senior citizen’s homes between East and West Pasco County. If you want to help, visit the website here to learn more about volunteering, pet food donations, monetary donations, and event sponsorships. If you want to get involved with the strawberry festival specifically, then more information about volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available here and here. Article by Ema Tibbetts
