In only a few short months many of us will be looking for refuge from the hot summer sun, and luckily, Florida is full of watery destinations to cool down at! While the beach may be synonymous with Florida, it should not be overlooked that there are many beautiful natural springs throughout the state equally as perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving or just hanging out at on those warm days. So, Uncovering Florida has rounded up a list of eight gorgeous Florida springs to put on your summer itinerary--and you can find a link to a map of these springs (and more!) at the bottom of the article. NOTE: Admission prices, hours and activities offered at a spring differ at each location and can be found on the spring's official websites linked in the headlines below. Ichetucknee Springs State ParkLocated in Fort White northwest of Gainesville, this park, also home to the famous "Blue Hole" has a crystal-clear river surrounded by beautiful scenery, making it the perfect serene destination for tubing, snorkeling, and swimming. What's more, it's only $6 per vehicle for entrance into the park! Blue Spring State ParkThis park, located in Orange City north of Orlando, is also $6 per vehicle and offers a refreshing swimming, tubing and kayaking experience in its clear, cool waters. Manatees are known to frequent this spring, so you may also be lucky enough to have a manatee or two swim by during your visit. Rainbow Springs State ParkLocated in Dunnellon, only a couple of hours north of Tampa is the stunning Rainbow Springs. The state park here is a popular spot for swimming, tubing, and kayaking in the crystal-clear waters. Weeki Wachee Springs State ParkKnown for its mermaid shows, this themed park in Spring Hill which recently just announced their reopening, offers a unique experience beyond just splashing around in the dreamy blue water. With live entertainment, a small waterpark and a host of additional water-friendly activities, this the perfect spot for the whole family--even for those who don't feel like getting wet. Ginnie SpringsUnlike several others on this list, Ginnie Springs is a privately-owned oasis located near High Springs. While it's this park is private, visitors are allowed to enjoy the many water activities offered here for as little as $15 a day depending on the time of the year. Devil's Den SpringHave you ever wanted to dive into a Florida sinkhole? You can at this privately-owned prehistoric spring, located in Williston! Devil's Den has crystal-clear waters that stay a constant 72 degrees year-round, making it perfect for swimming and scuba diving even on the hottest of summer days. Kelly Park Rock SpringWhy spend your entire Orlando vacation at the theme parks when you could take a short 45-minute drive to one of the most beautiful springs in the state? Better yet, bring your own tube and float down the river until your heart's content! Silver Springs State ParkIf you have the urge to kayak into a tropical South American rainforest but only have a budget for a daytrip? Well, there's hope for you yet. Silver Springs State Park, located Marion County is famous for two things: glass-bottom boat tours and wild monkeys that are frequently spotted along the river by boaters.
