A Tampa, Florida animal sanctuary reported that one of their popular resident animals has been taken. "It is with broken hearts that we announce that someone entered our farm overnight and stole our precious Maggie (toucan)," a Facebook post made three hours ago from HorsePower for Kids & Animal Sanctuary reads in part. According to the post, their exotic bird went missing at some point during the night after the lock on her enclosure was broken. "This individual or individuals broke the lock on her enclosure and took her. She loved her home at HorsePower for Kids so we are asking the public to please keep your eyes and ears open in hopes of bringing her back home. We have contacted the authorities, and they are in the process of fingerprinting and investigating." The sanctuary, a non-profit located at 8005 South Race Track Rd., is asking that whoever has the bird will "do the right thing" and return the beloved pet. "Whoever has her, please do the right thing and return her to the many volunteers, staff and visitors who love her so much." Currently no other updates have been made public since the time of posting, however the sanctuary is asking the public to share their public Facebook post to bring awareness to the theft and to hopefully expedite the return of Maggie.
