It turns out that breaking into homes is illegal for more than just humans--a black bear was captured after trying to break into a Collier County home, according to the Sept. 8-14 weekly Federal Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's report. The report mentioned that Officers Creel and Rubenstein were dispatched to a call about a black bear attempting to break into a home in Copeland and upon reaching the location, they observed the bear strolling along the street before it left the neighborhood through a wooded area. They then got in touch with the homeowner, who pointed out the damaged window where the bear had tried to enter. The officers recorded the incident and noticed signs that indicated the presence of a bear. To ensure the safe capture of the animal, they contacted the bear biologist from FWC and stayed at the residence while patrolling the neighborhood until the bear was successfully captured.
