Calling all artists! The Clearwater Public Art & Design Program is presenting an exciting array of opportunities for professional artists to leave their creative mark on the city. With various installations in need of artistic expertise, this program offers a chance for talented individuals to showcase their skills and contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of Clearwater. In recognition of the artists' efforts, a release by the city states that stipends ranging from $30,000 to $75,000 will be offered, providing fair compensation to artists for their time, skill, and creativity. These financial incentives not only reflect the value the city places on public art but also help to support and sustain the artistic community. One of the notable projects is in search of a muralist to adorn two water tanks located in the city's Countryside neighborhood. These tanks present a blank canvas for artists to transform into captivating works of art, with suggested themes ranging from sea and wildlife native to the Sunshine State to natural Florida landscapes of a postcard style. This project is set to pay a stipend of $30,000 to the selected artist, with applications for the role open until June 16, 2023. The Mercado, a new community space in Clearwater's Downtown Gateway community, seeks skilled mosaic artists to bring their talents to the forefront for a payment of $75,000. The mosaic installation will serve as an eye-catching centerpiece, with an aim to engage visitors and foster a sense of community pride. Applications will be accepted for this project until June 30, 2023. The final opportunity lies in the realm of sculpture, as the city is on the lookout for a sculptor to create an installation at the new Fire Station 46 on Clearwater Beach for $75,000. This project offers artists the chance to leave a lasting impression by integrating their artistic vision with the functional and aesthetic aspects of the fire station. Each project will require the submission of 2 samples by photo minimum. Those hoping to leave their mark on the city can submit an application for consideration online.
