Ready to treat yourself or someone you love to a spa day -- but without the hefty price tag attached? You know me, I love a good deal and if you do too then you will be pleased to know I got you covered! The Sunburnt Blogger and A Flesh Perspective are teaming up to offer my readers a 20% off discount code to their entire selection of homemade bath and spa products, and while this husband and wife duo offer a huge variety of different scents and goods to choose from, I especially have to recommend their beachy-themed products.

I have always been a huge fan of homemade anything -- food, clothing, soap, you name it. So when A Flesh Perspective approached me about trying their products I knew would probably be a match made in Heaven -- and how right I was. I have been using their shaving butter and bar soaps for over a week now and my skin is feeling softer than ever -- and don't even get me started on their bath bombs. It's been like having a spa day in my own home everyday, complete with my neck and back massager.

But in full disclosure, it was their West Coast Sunset bar soap that really sold me on A Flesh Perspective's products, which lead me down a rabbit hole to discover what other homemade products they have that would be great for the skin of someone like me who is either out in the sun all day, recovering from being in the sun, or wants to bring some of the beach home with them (more on this below). However, I thought it was equally important to share that during my time discovering everything they offer, I really got to know the family and mission behind the business.
A Flesh Perspective is a small business owned and operated by a Lisa and Josh Markle and their story is truly amazing. According to Josh, Lisa started the business over 23 years ago when she became a mother. She always taught her children to eat healthy and "live healthy inside and out" which you will see as a motto on their website and she did this by providing her children with quality homemade foods and handmade products.

Why? Well, Josh noted that it was because when Lisa looked at the ingredients on baby food and bath products, she realized that there were more unknown ingredients than natural ingredients, so she would make their baby food with all natural ingredients and without preservatives.

Fast forward a few years and Lisa and Josh married in 2016 blending their two families together, which is when "A Flesh Perspective" really started.

"Our multi-cultural family all have different needs to have healthy skin. Her 4 children Bronwyn, Saabrah, Sage and Drac had their own skin needs and then my two children Jarod and Zander also had different needs; we realized that there were at least 3 different skin types that needed special soap to help keep their skin strong and soft," Josh told The Sunburnt Blogger, furthering, "Drac and Sage have African American descent so they needed a charcoal soap with natural oils, Jarod has very oily skin which produces acne, during the winter months everyone’s skin would become dry and crack."

Instead of buying expensive soaps, Lisa took up the challenge to make her own.

"Over the next few years we would sell soap to close friends and family and our clientele started to grow by word of mouth. Recently Lisa has started making soap for a high-end boutique in Los Angeles, California, and a few other local sales and we have heard nothing but great reviews from people who buy our products about how the product smells and how their skin or hair feels after using the products, and at a great price! So, we decided to share this great product with everyone. This past year during the Pandemic we took our savings and invested in the equipment to help Lisa make soap and body care products and officially launched A Flesh Perspective!"

As far as ideas for the future, Josh and Lisa have some big dreams for the company.

"Lisa is a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor and works as a nurse in a Pediatric office during the day, I am a salesperson for an electronics manufacturer. We love spending time together and if we could spend everyday making soap together, we would be very happy! Between her artistic personality and my engineering mind we complement each other and cherish every day that we have together and with our family! Our goal is to see "A Flesh Perspective" become a company that we can hand down to our children and our grandchildren. We will probably never be a mega company selling on places like Amazon or Wal-Mart because Lisa loves to know her customer base! That may sound crazy, but even as we grow that connection will always be there when she is making her handmade bath and body care products. She is reminded of people who have supported us over the years when she makes each product. Certain scents remind her of a doctor she has worked with and he buys that specific product or with friends who are true evangelists of our products and are excited to try our new products. Lisa considers EVERYONE who buys our product part of our family even if they are in other states or even countries! She has sold products into most states and even into a few countries like Australia already.

We would like to have a brick-and-mortar store in the coming year should we have the ability to move out of our home, and my goal is to support Lisa in her dreams to follow her passion; to enable her to showcase her love of the products and have the facility to do so together. A place of serenity where she can focus on developing new products and create each batch of handmade products for her customers. She will always put her heart and love into each bar because she started this for our children and she understands that not everyone can afford a $12 bar of soap! We don't aim to be the most expensive bar and we actually strive to provide a quality soap at a much lower price; not only do we provide a quality bar we strive to succeed for the ability to give back to those in need!

We have always taught our children to respect everyone regardless of age, sex, race, religion or situation they may be in; we want them to see how good it can feel to help those that are less fortunate. Everyone sees the turmoil our world is going through and we have a multi-cultural family that has been raised to accept people and to listen and not judge because they are not the same. We realize that America is the land of opportunity and we would not have that same luxury if not for our great veterans and their families, first responders and front-line workers! Our goal as a company is a move towards supporting non-profit charities. We have family members who are fighting cancer or loved ones that are going through domestic abuse. These are the charities that may not be as funded as the more commercialized ones. We are currently creating a forever giver program; this program will donate $1 from every product purchased to the charity code used at checkout. Since we hope that families being supported by some of these charities are buying products to support the charities, we give the buyer a 10% discount as well. This is part of our giving back and the legacy we hope to leave behind to the next generation."

I just love their story, and it makes me feel even better about supporting their local small business! If you also want to support the hard-working family behind A Flesh Perspective (while also reaping the benefits of what they offer) you will definitely want to check out their many great products.
