Matcha has become a millennial's best friend. From the food we eat to the products we put on our skin, and everything in between, we put that sh*t on and in everything. So, naturally, when Dunkin announced their new matcha donut and drink, we were like, totally obsessed before even tasting it.
But, seriously. Being the millennial that I am, as soon as I learned that my local DD (I still call it Dunkin Donuts, tbh) was offering my favorite sweet beverage with a blueberry twist, I had to have it. And for the past 5 days since then I've had one everyday --it's THAT good. Now, mind you, I'm absolutely not getting paid or compensated by DD to write this or review it; they don't even know I exist, really. I'm just truly this enthused about finding the new perfect, caffeinated, beach-day drink and wanted to share the great news. Mind you, it's also super affordable. I purchased a large today from my local DD, and it was just over $4. READ ALSO: This rainbow-wonderland restaurant is hidden in three major Florida cities
Neither their blueberry syrup nor matcha latte is new, but pairing the two is, and, God, I'm wondering why no one thought of this sooner. This is the holy grail of flavor combinations.
It has all the aspects you have come to know and love about matcha but with a light hint of refreshing blueberry flavoring. Sure, call me a simp for blueberry-flavored-anything, because I am that as well, but these two flavors really do work well together. You can get the latte hot or iced, though I've only had it iced. I think the crispness pairs nicely with the flavors and makes it a thirst-quenching beverage (about on par with boba tea, but for about half the price.) As with most DD drinks it's also customizable. You can choose what kind of creamer you'd like to put in, and I think they give you the same option for sugar too, however, I just get it how it's made. You know, I kind of have an "if it's not broken don't fix it" kind of attitude. I have tried each of the sizes, and when made correctly they all have the same amount of blueberry flavoring, so don't be afraid of ordering a large for the fear of less flavor! Oh, and the matcha-topped donut? Do-nut even get me started on that. *drools* READ ALSO: "Haunted honey" exists & it comes straight from the tombs of New Orleans' spookiest cemeteries
