9/24/2021 1 Comment Everything you need to know about what's closing at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park next week
Fall is officially here, which means certain parts of our favorite springs will be closing, and Weeki Wachee is no exception. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park announced today that "Saturday and Sunday is the final weekend the water slides, lazy river, and kiddie pool will be open for the 2021 season."
What does that mean for you? Well, according to the information they released, beginning September 27, "only the main swimming area will remain open daily. The waterpark will reopen March 22, 2022." While the waterpark, which was recently renovated, will be closed for the season, you will still be able to rent kayaks from the park and enjoy most of the other amenities including the mermaid shows. It has been a busy year for the spring, often packed to full-capacity soon after the doors opened in the morning. As a COVID safety precaution, once the park reached capacity no one else was allowed to enter for the day. Here's what it looked like the first day of reopening in March, 2021:
Thankfully, with cooler days on the horizon and the waterparks' subsequent seasonal closure, it should be less packed and hopefully easier to get into.
The park hours are 9a.m.-5:30p.m. and it's $13 per adult to get in. If you would like to enjoy the river without going to the headspring, consider my hack here! Don't forget that manatee season is almost here too! There's some great information on how you can make the most of it here.
