Fatal shooting investigation underway in Port Richey

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting in the Hickory Hill Dr. area of Port Richey, a social media release states.

According to police, preliminary information indicates that around 2:10 p.m. today, October 27, 2023, three suspects were attempting to break into a home when an individual inside the home shot at the suspects breaking in.

Police say one suspect breaking in was struck by the gunfire and has died as a result. Another suspect was also struck by the gunfire, fled to a local hospital and is detained by law enforcement. A third suspect was detained in relation to this incident after a brief search by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

Several schools were placed on controlled campus status as a result of this incident out of an abundance of caution. Fox Hollow Elementary, Jazz Dayspring Academy and Schrader Elementary are currently on a controlled campus status while the investigation is ongoing.
