If you've ever wished you were a part of a Florida Man headline without all the law enforcement consequences, an event in St. Augustine next year will give you the chance. According to event organizers of the first-ever "Florida Man Games", the competition is set to be "the most insane athletic showdown on earth", with the games poking fun at Florida's reputation for headlines involving guns, drugs, booze, reptiles and more. Among the contests planned for next February 24 are an 'Evading Arrest Obstacle Course', where contestants will have to jump over fences and through yards while being chased down by real police officers, as well as a 'Category 5 Cash Grab', where participants will try to grab as much money as they can in a wind-blowing booth, and the self-explanatory beer-belly wrestling. Two Former stars of the 1990s tv show "American Gladiators" will also serve as referees. “This isn’t just a competition; it’s a one-of-a-kind Floridian spectacle!” organizers said on the Florida Man Games' website. As reported by WESH, the "Florida Man" concept crept into the nation's hearts a decade ago with the @_FloridaMan Twitter account. The account's tagline “Real-life stories of the world’s worst superhero,” perfectly encapsulates headlines such as "Florida Man Fire Bombs Garage That Impounded His Car, Hits His Own Vehicle" and "Florida Man Tried to Pay for McDonald's With Weed." How much are tickets? General admission to the event is going for $45. However, a VIP ticket option is also available for $145 and includes a myriad of extras.
