10/9/2023 0 Comments Florida Man arrested after screaming threats & conspiracy beliefs at Volusia Air CrewA DeLand man with a history of threatening to shoot down the Volusia Sheriff's Office helicopter has been arrested again after approaching the hangar and screaming at Air One Crew, a social media release states. According to the October 9th Facebook post from Volusia Sheriff's Office, Robert Moni, 59, of Newport Avenue in DeLand was arrested on Sunday night on 3 counts of aggravated stalking. The Air One crew is familiar with Moni from previous encounters, some the Volusia Sheriff's Office say stem from Moni's belief that helicopters are part of a conspiracy spying on him and causing him concussions by flying over his home. The latest encounter with Moni at the Air One hangar occurred Saturday, when police say he showed up screaming at the crew and staff. At one point, Moni moved in front of the building and continued yelling while a crew member was in the parking lot with his family. Police state that Moni made several statements about the Sheriff's Office employees being evil, adding that the DeLand man stated, "The devil is going to kill you, and I am going to help." This isn't the first time Moni has been arrested for his threats; he was arrested in 2018 after calling an Orlando news station, threatening to shoot down Air One. Moni has been booked at the Volusia County Branch Jail on his new charges received Sunday night; he remains held without bond, pending first appearance in court. Article by Rachael Volpe
