Popular YouTuber, Charles Ross, will stand trial before a jury on Wednesday, May 7th, 2024, at 8:30a.m. at the Sarasota County Judicial Center. According to a press release sent out this evening, Ross is charged with criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace. "Come to my CRIMINAL TRIAL tomorrow morn," said Ross on his Instagram page earlier today. We reached out to Ross for additional information, and the following was provided in their press release: The incident occurred at 1003 N Washington Blvd, Sarasota, FL. Ross was recording a prank video while dressed in a grandmother costume. A link to a video clip of the incident in question is attached below. (Video clip of incident) Law enforcement's typical procedure involves issuing a trespass warning to individuals who are unwilling to leave a premises. However, in Ross's case, he and his film crew departed and de-escalated the situation before any police involvement. No trespass warnings were issued by law enforcement. Although initial assault charges were dismissed, the state attorney proceeded to press criminal trespassing charges against Ross, a considerable time after the fact. Ross, aware of his previous encounters with the law, ensures he consults with legal counsel before any filming activities. “This is the most malicious prosecution I’ve ever seen, and it is very clear that this office is only prosecuting him because of the videos he's been making, not because he's engaged in any crime,” says Ross' attorney, Jake Grollman. “It’s an inappropriate use of taxpayers’ money for a situation that resolved itself before the police even arrived. A clear misuse of the state attorney’s time and attention,” says YouTuber Charles Ross. Ross is the owner of the comedy production company, Vlogcreations on YouTube and his stunts have been viewed millions of times across his channels. He has also been featured on Tosh.0's Web Redemption following a previous prank-related arrest.
