Inmate death under investigation by Pinellas Police

Detectives assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 33-year-old inmate Ryan Davies, a press release states.

According to the release, Davies was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on September 29, 2023, after being arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office for Possession of Fentanyl and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Detectives learned on October 7, 2023, at approximately 05:20 a.m., that Davies was transported to a local hospital for medical reasons. Davies was pronounced deceased at the hospital on October 11, 2023, at approximately 03:47 p.m.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Davies was involved in any physical altercations or sustained any injuries while incarcerated at the jail, and do not believe that the death appears suspicious in nature.

Davies' next of kin has been notified.
