The Humane Society of Broward County had a special guest in their ranks today as they hosted an adoption event at a local Publix in Cooper City — none other than the king of good vibrations, Mark Wahlberg. According to an Instagram post shared by @HumaneBroward, Wahlberg's visit to Broward County included giving the shelter's resident, Lucia, lots of love, as they attempted to help their pups find loving homes. Incidentally, Wahlberg was there as well to promote his new tequila brand, Flecha Azul, while also connecting with long-time fans. The Humane Society of Broward County was also at the same Cooper City Publix hosting an off-shelter adoption event. The post is accompanied by a photo of Wahlberg with a shelter representative holding Lucia, as well as a short video clip of Wahlberg giving Lucia all the pets. "Even though fans from all over south Florida were there to see Wahlberg (who is an avid dog lover and has four pups at home), adorable Lucia stole the show and had everyone stopping by for puppy pets. Lucia took all the attention in stride and showed us what a good girl she is!" the post reads, in part. Those hoping to give 11-week-old Lucia a loving home are encouraged by the Humane Society of Broward County to complete a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com before stopping into their location at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. The adoption kennels are open daily at 11 am. Questions can be directed to the shelter by phone at 954-989-3977 using extension 6. Article by Rachael Volpe
