New Clearwater park begins week-long grand opening celebration today: Check out the full schedule of events

The many months of waiting are finally up for the new Coachman Park in Clearwater. The outdoor concert venue and waterfront park will officially kick off a week-long Grand Opening celebration starting this Wednesday, welcoming visitors to enjoy a lineup of daily activities, food and beverage vendors, concerts, and more.

Starting with a ribbon cutting at the upper plaza at 5 pm on Wednesday, June 28, each day will feature a unique lineup of celebrations set to match a theme that highlights different aspects of the community. Each day will also feature live performances from an array of artists such as Cheap Trick, The Byrne Brothers, Colbie Caillat, and Gavin DeGraw.

Other activities on the docket throughout the week include craft vendor markets, a classic car show, yoga, fitness camps, DJ'd music, children's entertainment, and food trucks, with a fireworks display and silent disco closing out the festivities in the evening on July 4.

The 19-acre park cost $84 million and 2 years to recreate, and features more than waterfront walkways and a concert hall; you'll also find a gateway plaza and bluff that connects the park to downtown, public art spaces, a marina amenity building, a 320-foot scenic lake overlook with pavilions, and a pirate-themed playground area with a splash pad for the kids.

Admission to Coachman Park is completely free — any money you decide to spend will be on eats, drinks, and craft vendors scattered throughout the park during the grand-opening celebration. You'll find the park at 301 Drew St. in Clearwater.
