The Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is seeking the public's help in a shooting and attempted murder investigation, a social media release states. According to the Facebook post by Polk County Sheriff's Office, at 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023, they responded to the offramp to US Highway 27 from I-4 in Davenport. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered an adult male victim who had been shot while exiting the Interstate. Police say the victim was found near his white Dodge truck. He appeared to have been traveling westbound on I-4 and had just exited to go onto Hwy 27. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital; police believe he was shot by someone in another vehicle who then fled the scene. Accompanying the post information is a map showing the area in which the crime took place. The Polk County Sheriff's Office asks those who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in this area during the time frame of the crime to please contact the PCSO regarding case number 23-42221.
