SpongeBob Broadway Musical to take stage in Florida this August

Fans of a certain SquarePants-ed sea sponge looking for a new way to be transported to Bikini Bottom may want to check out the SpongeBob SquarePants Broadway Musical in Florida this August. The show is set to take over Rise Above Performing Arts in Sarasota for 8 dates, including August 17 through 20, as well as the 24th through the 27th.

According to the synopsis for the show from Rise Above's website, the stakes are higher than ever for all of Bikini Bottom, as they face total annihilation of their underwater world.

"Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage." the synopsis reads, in part. It continues to welcome would-be showgoers while also breaking down the star-studded musical score.

This theatrical innovation of SpongeBob will feature original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Dirty Projectors, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, and T.I., as well as a song by David Bowie, with additional lyrics by Jonathan Coulton.

Those hoping to attend the show may be happy to know that tickets are relatively affordable, ranging in price from $17 to $32 each, seat selection, and show date depending.

As of publication, a decent selection of seating options is available across all show dates, including some at the center bar, which grants access to electrical outlets to keep your devices charged, waitress service during the show, and intermission service.
