Arguably one of the best ways to cool off in the Sunshine State's year-round heat is to escape to the beach. But sand in your cracks and swimming with sea life just isn't super chill for everyone. Those looking for a different type of day escape may want to opt for the Largest Man-Made Lagoon in the U.S., Mirada Lagoon, instead. You'll find the recently opened Mirada in San Antonio at 31461 Mirada Boulevard, just south of State Road 52. At 15 acres, the property crafted by Metro Lagoons is larger than the company's 2 other locations combined — Wimauma's Southshore Bay, and the original largest man-made lagoon at 7.5 acres, Wesley Chapel's Epperson. As for what fills those 15 acres, there's quite a bit. Whether you're a family looking to make a splash with a day of play at the Water Splash Zone or a couple of besties looking to relax over drinks and a bite to eat at the Swim-Up bar, there's a little something for everyone. With a Lagoon Day Pass, visitors can take a dip in the tropical beach-like paradise, while also enjoying endless thrills on the water slide, as well as access to the resort-style swim-up bar for a single price. Day Pass prices vary depending on which day and time you decide to go, ranging from $20 to $40. For those who don't mind showing up at 3 pm or later, a Late-Day Pass is also available for less, ranging between $13 and $32, time slot depending. Other amenities offered for an additional fee at Mirada include kayaking and stand-up paddle boards, as well as a water obstacle course for between $5 and $15. However, a $14 Splash Pass to have access to all water activities at one price point is available now through September 4, 2023. 21+ only Cabanas and premium loungers are also available for rent, ranging in price from $40 for umbrella-ed loungers to upwards of $279 for a floating Aquabana at Cabana Cove — which includes a private bar, swim area, water stations, and 2 reserved loungers.
