Move out of the way, Starbucks' PSL, you're old news! There's a new food trend in town that'll have you obsessing over the holidays: hot chocuterie boards. Maybe 2020 isn't so bad after all?
Well, no, 2020 has definitely been a year -- to say the least -- but hey, we will take little redemption here and there when we can, right? You might be wondering what exactly a hot chocuterie board is, and I'm happy to explain. Just like a normal charcuterie board, this plate of pure bliss is a hodgepodge of delicious goodies to choose from. The only real difference is that everything on the chocuterie board is -- you guessed it -- hot cocoa related; complete with hot cocoa bombs (also a new trend) and all the toppings and mix-ins you could ever imagine. While some crafty people choose to make their own boards at home, if you're anything like me you'll be more inclined to appreciate a pre-made one. You know, because everything tastes better when someone else makes it! If that's how you feel too, then there's some amazing news, you can pick one up right in St. Pete. Beans & Barlour, one of the area's trendiest cafes around, has just announced this week that they are officially offering these on their menu for the holiday season. Their recent Instagram post reads in part, "HOT CHOCUTERIE BOARDS are here!!!! We’ve taken the hot chocolate bomb trend up a few notches by creating these chocuterie boards complete with hot chocolate bombs, toppings, mix ins and whipped cream. You can even make your board boozy!!" Yes -- they totally said you can add booze! And now you're definitely wondering when you can get one... "We are currently offering these boards for dine in single servings and for 2, but will have a holiday preorder up soon." The best part? They start at only $15 for two! This + Hunt A Killer = cheap date night idea, anyone? If you're looking to make this a family-ordeal, $26 will double the amount and serve four. (Side note: honestly, I'm so excited about these coming to the Bay, if you can't tell, because I've been seeing them all over social media and they look DELICIOUS.) So, I hope you'll share my excitement and shop local this holiday season by ordering yours from Beans & Barlour, located at 538 1st Ave N., St. Pete.
