We know how much I love over-the-top eateries, so let's talk about the celebrity favorite, The Sugar Factory. Besides always having today's biggest influencers popping up at their many locations, they offer regular people, like you and I, a fun alternative to your local chain diner.
With locations in almost every major Florida city, including Tampa, Orlando and Miami, this restaurant is pretty easy to book into your schedule no matter where your adventures might take you. So what really sets apart this establishment from anywhere else? Their whole MO is bright, exciting, and colorful; which they incorporate both into their atmosphere and menu offerings. From rainbow stacks of pancakes, to sliders that look like real-life pretty patties, and fish-bowl sizes of alcoholic drinks, The Sugar Factory has "exciting, colorful, and bright" figured out. I had been eyeing up this restaurant since I learned about it a couple of years ago, but only had the chance to try it for myself last week while I was at Icon Park in Orlando. I didn't make a reservation (which clearly is a good idea because their availability fills up FAST), so I was limited to first-come first-serve seating at the bar.
I don't drink, but boy did their drink menu look tempting. They had over a dozen special fishbowl-sized drinks to choose from. Instead, I opted to try their banana split, which had six scoops of ice cream, one full banana, and a generous portion of whipped cream in between it all. Their prices were a bit higher than an average chain diner, my banana split (which was definitely made for more than one person) was $15, and the Caesar salad without protein on it was $13. Their drink and dessert menu were pricey as well; averaging around $20 per serving. But was it worth it? Considering that this is a speciality place, that you probably aren't going to be ordering from often, I would say it's worth it for the experience. After all, where else are you going to get this?
They have to-go options as well, so you can take your colorful delights on the run.
Each of their locations are open at different times, and usually late into the evening. I do recommend making a reservation before visiting since their spots fill up fast. You can check out where your closest Sugar Factory is here!
