The City of Miami Police Department is seeking information regarding an incident involving a local Uber driver. According to a video shared by the department this morning on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Uber driver in question has been arrested for fraudulent charges. The driver, whose name was not disclosed, allegedly provided a ride to a woman who later woke up in a motel room disoriented and confused with several fraudulent credit cards charges that she did not authorize. Captain Cruz of the Miami Police Department's Public Information Office described the situation as a "very disturbing case" in the video released regarding the investigation. "We have seen cases like this in the past, some have even had deadly consequences," Cruz said, in part. "[...] We want to keep a guy like this behind bars." The suspect is currently facing fraud charges, but the investigation remains open and the Miami Police Department is working with other agencies to identify more victims.
