I was at a Tampa-area Walmart this past week (okay, I'm there like way too often) but I don't often stop in their garden center --though, I'm glad I made an exception or else I wouldn't have run across an amazing find. Walmart has a $2 succulent deal currently running at certain stores that will definitely brighten your succ-y day.
For just $2 each, you can pick from over 10 different 1-2" cacti to beautifully decorate your home or garden with. This isn't a clearance deal, so all of the plants were actually healthy and decently-sized; but I think what makes this such a bargain is that you can pick out which ones you do or don't want, and honestly, if they die, then no major loss!
Need a cheap date night or an idea for a gift? Pick up 5 or so plants and a couple of cheap planters from Walmart (or the Dollar Tree if you're really deal-savvy!) and you could be spending way less than $30 for a gift that keeps on giving. Bonus: the Dollar tree sells a variety of rocks, gravel, marbles and other tiny planter decorations that would be great to add in. Check out the decorations I bought for a dollar each at the Dollar Tree:
And I bought the planter on the left (in the image below & the cover photo) from Walmart for about $5, which fit 5 cacti with plenty of room to grow. It's the perfect size for a desk or accent table and will definitely add some much-needed color to any room or outside space!
I also picked up a small bag of potting soil, however depending on the soil around your home this may not be a necessity.
All-in-all, for my 10 plants + the planter, potting soil and decorations, I spent just over $30. If you ask me, I say that it was well worth it! At this point, they seem to be holding up well in their new pots and soil, and I love that they need minimal attention. I think that's just the excuse I needed to go and buy some more. You can find the deal online here, or call your local Walmart prior to visiting to check in-store availability. And here's the finished product, totalling $17
