Eventually you cave in to your vices as you tell yourself you'll just jump back on your diet tomorrow. At least I do anyways... And for me, there's no place in Florida quite like Bake'n Babes that makes me want to hop in my car ASAP and drop some big bucks on treats. I had the pleasure of checking out their spot at The Hall on Franklin with Cassie, the owner of The Sunburnt Blogger, on a girl's outing where we slurped down a signature shake -- a vegan milkshake topped with a vegan brownie and a whole-ass sparkler -- as well as their Valentine's Day-themed rightfully-dubbed Freak Shake that had even more toppings, a lollipop, cookie, and a delightful strawberry-like flavor. They've since relocated to 80s and 90s themed arcade bar, GenX Tavern. The shakes, brownies, and cookies were honestly all delicious, and I probably wouldn't have known the Signature Shake, brownie, and cookie we had were vegan if you didn't tell me. Well, maybe the cookie, but it was still tasty nonetheless. Of course, we couldn't leave without snapping some memories of our over-the-top treat-sesh together. The Freak Shakes' theme changes every month, too. Bake n Babes even showed some spooky season spirit with a Halloween-themed one throughout October this year; and it was adorably served in a skull glass topped with cotton candy, a cupcake, and other seasonal details. The fact that they even made a Lizzo themed Shake to celebrate her concert in Tampa back in 2019; which the 100% That Bitch came in to try herself. Probably the best part for me is that they do special things with their shakes and other baked goodies too, where a portion of the proceeds for purchases go to good causes, helping someone in need, and local charities. So not only do the shakes taste amazing, you might feel a little bit better about the $20 price tag you'll have to drop to indulge your sugary desires on one of those massive milky bois. Gotta treat yo'self sometime right? I mean, 2020 has been a tough year. I personally haven't been able to try all of their sweets just yet, but the menu has a ton of different options for every kind of sweet tooth. From fruity pebble to salted chocolate chip, CBD, and even NUTELLA STUFFED cookies, their Sleazy Brownies stuffed with an Oreo in the center, or there's the variety box for when you just can't decide which one is tantalizing your taste buds most. While I'm currently on vacation visiting my family in Michigan, I haven't been able to get my mind off of checking out their new location that's popped up at Armature Works -- another huge Tampa Bay food hall that has everything you could possibly dream of, from rooftop bars with fruity cocktails and panoramic views of the water to crunchy Cuban sandwich and cheeseburger stuffed Empanadas at Empamamas, which also totally live up to their novelty hype. I'll be writing about my visit there at a later date. What really grabbed my attention about Bake'n Babes newest location though were their new Taiyaki ice cream cones; soft serve ice cream served in a fish shaped cone that is almost too pretty to eat -- at least not until I can snap a picture perfect shot of the unique treat to add to my Instagram. I imagine it would look even better and add a special spice to those who have foodie-themed feeds too. Even though I have my eyes set on the Taiyaki Cones, their The Works soft serves exclusive to the Armature location are also on my to try list. This month it's Christmas themed, but much like Bake'n Babes Freak Shakes, the toppings for The Works will change every month according to a post on Instagram announcing the official new opening.
I may be on a diet, but when I get back to Florida, I think a stop at Bake n Babes new spot is in order. After all, I could just consider it a part of the end of my Michigan trip -- because calories don't count when you're on vacation, right? Now if only I lived closer so I could just get it delivered on Uber Eats.
