Are you over 18 and have a photo of Florida that is worthy of sharing with the world? If so, good news: there are a couple of weeks left to submit to the 2022 Smithsonian Magazine photo contest for a chance to win up to $2,500. November 30 will be the last day to submit, marking the completion of the 20th annual contest for the publication. "Over the last 20 years, readers have submitted more than 470,000 images to Smithsonian’s annual photo contest. These photos have transported us to the far corners of Earth, captured spectacular, split-second moments and introduced us to fascinating people and unique landscapes," their contest "About" page states, in part. Taken directly from the contest page, this year's submission categories include:
While Florida is full of beautiful sights worth submitting, the contest is not limited to Florida. People all over the world--and not just professional photographers--can submit their photos. Basic knowledge of digital photo editing may be needed as the site states: photographs must be submitted in .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format, edited for web in sRGB color space, at least 2,000 pixels wide and no larger than 10 MB. The finalists will be announced on the publication's website in the spring of 2023. You can see accepted submissions and read through the contest rules on the official website by clicking here.
